Here you will find all the different activities that have been carried out during the SLIPS project.

PROJECT PROGRESS EVENTS

KICK OFF EVENT / TPM I

The Kick-off event was held on 16 February 2024 and comprised of a 1-day event in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia. It welcomed more than 44 participants including project partners and external stakeholders from public institutions, civil society, and the education sector (ie. schools/teachers), who were introduced to the 'Service-Learning In Primary Schools' (SLIPS) project and experienced increased awareness and interest in getting involved in the topic.

MIDTERM EVENT / TPM II

The Mid-term project event took place on 24 January 2025 and consisted of a 1-day event in Granada, Spain. It welcomed 25 participants including project partners and external stakeholders. Those previously involved in the kick off meeting, and those involved with the piloting outside of the partnership, were invited to attend, to further the interest generated about the project and strengthen the potential community of practice, which is building and following the project, even without being involved in the concrete project implementation.

FINAL EVENT / TPM III

The Final Project Event took place in Brussels, Belgium on 14 October 2025. It welcomed 53 participants (44 female, 8 male and 1 non-binary) including project partners and external stakeholders from various backgrounds with experience and/or interest in Service Learning including:

SLIPS partner organisations from different European countries including representatives from volunteering organisations, universities and a European-level SME;
Civil society organisations including those representing the volunteering and educational sectors;
Educational sector including representatives from universities, pedagogical institutes and the primary education level;
Public authorities such as municipality representatives and pedagogical institutes from different European cities.

t was organised to close the project, inviting relevant stakeholders and interested parties again to ensure the widest possible dissemination of the project successes and best practices.

INFORMATION SESSIONS

From June to November 2024, each partner has hosted information sessions in their country, both online and in-person ones, in which they in total have welcomed more than 450 participants, largely exceeding the target of including more than 40 stakeholders in each country.

The Information sessions were conducted in order to best generate interest and awareness of the project, as well as to attract potential collaborators and target groups. During the sessions, partners have shared the project concepts, benefits, and encouraging uptake of the training opportunity.

LOCAL SUSTAINABILITY EVENTS

Between August and November 2025, the project partners have implemented sustainability events in 6 of the partner countries including in Bosia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Lithuania, Portugal, Slovakia and Spain. The sustainability events were 1-day events, hosted by the partners in their local contexts to disseminate the project and its outputs towards national and local stakeholders.

COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE

Between November 2024 and October 2025, the SLIPS partners have organised and implemented 5 Community of Practice events - one in person and 4 online -, welcoming 107 persons in total across the sessions and contributing to the creation of a Community of Practice focused on service-learning in primary education and hence to ensuring the sustainability of the project.

The community of practice served as a knowledge sharing platform and a networking and building professional relationship with other participants. Each session provided the guests with the opportunity to offer insights, guidance, background and specialised knowledge, serving as an enriching learning experience for all.

LOCAL TEACHER TRAININGS

Between March and October 2025, the project partners organised and implemented 2-day teacher trainings focused on introducing service-learning in primary education for primary school teachers including service-learning essentials, teaching methodologies for active participation and NFE components in the classroom.

The partners were responsible for welcoming and training between 30-200 teachers:

Out of the Box Europe - 100 persons in Portugal;
University of Granada - 200 persons in Spain;
Vytautas Magnus University - 100 persons in Lithuania;
Platform of Volunteer Centres and Organizations - 30 persons in Slovakia;
Croatian Volunteer Development Centre - 30 persons in Croatia;
PRONI Center for Youth Development - 140 persons in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

With the aims to:

Increase the capacity of schools and primary school teachers to engage with and
implement service-learning;
Equip primary school teachers with skills and methods to create a positive learning
environment with high pupil engagement through service-learning;
Provide data-driven insights for continuous improvement through surveys with the
participants to gain feedback that can help identify successes and challenges, contributing
to quality control and ongoing improvements in service-learning training and implementation.

In total, 20 training sessions were conducted and 875 primary school teachers (183 male, 689 female and 3 non-binary) were trained with overall positive feedback and high satisfaction.

FINAL CONFERENCE

The Final Event was titled “SLIPS Final Conference - Service Learning in Youth Policies” and consisted of a 1-day event, which was hosted in the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium by Centre for European Volunteering (CEV) together with MEPs Vladimir Prebilic and Gordan Bosanac and with a video including welcoming words from Keynote Speaker MEP Suncana Galvak.

The SLIPS Final Event welcomed 130 participants (97 female and 33 male) and involved persons from various backgrounds with experience and/or interest in Service Learning including:

SLIPS partner organisations from different European countries including representatives from volunteering organisations, universities and a European-level SME;
Civil society organisations including those representing the volunteering and educational sectors;
Educational sector including representatives from universities, pedagogical institutes and primary and secondary school education;
Public authorities such as representatives from municipalities, city halls and councils, pedagogical institutes, ministry of public administration offices, council of voluntary sectors as well as international/European policy stakeholders such as UN Volunteers and Members of the European Parliament and their staff.

The SLIPS Final Event invited 8 speakers in total including one keynote speaker, project partners presenting the project outputs and a panel discussion.
